The last six edges — M and U only
LSE — the Last Six Edges — is everything left once blocks and corners are done: six edges remain (four on top, two in the bottom of the middle slice) plus the middle-slice centers. From here the whole solve uses just two moves — M and U — in three substeps, always in this order:
- 1 · EO — orient the edges. Make every free edge show yellow or white up or down. M is the only tool that flips edges, and it always flips the four standing in the middle slice.
- 2 · LR edges — place left and right. Put the red and orange edges into the UL/UR slots. M2 and U do the sorting without breaking orientation.
- 3 · 4c — the last four edges AND the centers. The middle-slice centers come into place together with these last edges — they are not a separate earlier step. Every M carries the centers along, so solving the final edges finishes the centers for free.
That's also why a white or green center on top never matters during EO and LR: the centers ride the same slice as the edges and come home in step 3.

Blocks and corners are dimmed on purpose — they're already solved and M/U never break them. Only the six bright edges and the middle-slice centers still move.
EO state
The diagram shows the top face from above (front at the bottom) plus the two bottom slice edges DF/DB and the D center. A dashed outline with a ✕ marks a misoriented edge — count them: one M from solved makes exactly four.
Substep
Count the bad edges first — always an even number (0, 2, 4 or 6). An edge is bad when its yellow/white sticker doesn't point up or down. M flips exactly the four edges in the middle slice, so the game is: steer bad edges into the slice with U, flip them with M.
With EO done, park the red edge at UL and the orange edge at UR, yellows up, corners aligned. M2 is the elevator (it swaps slice edges top-for-bottom without flipping anything); the M-sandwich (M … U2 … M) re-sorts edges and restores orientation by the end.
The finale: four edges and both middle-slice centers, solved together — the centers were never a separate step, they ride along with every M. Only M turns and U2 are safe now: a single U would knock the placed LR edges out again.
A fresh random M/U scramble each round — blocks and corners stay solved, exactly like a real solve after CMLL. Work the three substeps in order; the validator confirms the finished cube.
